Although they do offer some of the same features in terms of materials, the key differences are in the height of the walls and the size of the base. The braiser offers more room for searing ingredients and shorter walls for holding less liquid needed to braise.
Yes, Le Creuset tempered glass lids are safe to be used on Cast Iron products and are oven safe up to 260º C / 500º F .
