Experiment with Your Bread Making

Winter is the perfect season to roll up your sleeves and cook outside your comfort zone. Use the cooler months to think less and feel more in the kitchen. Give yourself more time to make creations by hand and seek out recipes that will inspire you to use your kitchen tools in creative ways, like experimenting with bread-making. Let’s bake!

How to Knead Dough

Once the dough has formed a shaggy ball, transfer on to the counter and use your hands to bring the dough together.

With a pushing motion, use the heal of your hand to work the dough until the dough becomes less sticky.

Between kneading, stretch and fold the dough on to itself. Repeat this motion for approximately 10 minutes, until a smooth, homogenous ball forms.

To test whether your dough is properly kneaded, perform the Poke Test: Give your dough ball a firm poke with your finger. If the dimple starts to fill back quickly, the dough is ready. If the dimple stays, keep kneading and perform the Poke Test again after a few more minutes.

Why Choose Cast Iron for Bread Baking

Enamelled Cast Iron is known for its unrivalled ability to reach high temperatures and retain heat evenly for great baking results. Its tight-fitting lid also boosts the steam effect and delays the crust formation of the bread. This enhances the baking process for that unequalled airy crumb and the characteristic grain taste.
