THE ARCHIVE SERIES Our Colours

It all started with a burst of Flame. Since then, our colours have turned everyday cookware into icons and kitchens into vibrant spaces of self-expression. More than a finish, they’re a legacy, defining eras, sparking trends, and bringing joy to generations of cooks.

1925
In 1925, our journey began with Flame – a colour inspired by molten cast iron. Aubecq and De Saegher's revolutionary enamelling technique created cookware that was stronger, more durable, easier to clean, and versatile – embodying the Art Deco and functionalist spirit where function meets beauty. At a time when stoves were cloaked in drab hues, Flame exploded like a firework, captivating kitchens worldwide. This breakthrough was followed by terra-cotta Fonte des Alps and the wildly popular yellow, Grapefruit, launching our legacy in colour.

1950
Arlequin Collection – After years of unveiling brilliant colours, we transformed our signature orange hue into four sparkling new shades: Grenade, Pamplemouse, Anthracite and Vert Florentin. This innovative collection honoured our storied legacy while infusing a fresh vibrancy into our cocottes – a true celebration of creative refinement and modern culinary expression.

1955
Elysée Yellow – An instant success that enchanted kitchens worldwide, this warm, inviting shade was adored by culinary enthusiasts and icons alike, including Marilyn Monroe. In 1999, a full collection would be auctioned at Christie’s for $25,000, underscoring the enduring appeal and unique flavour of our heritage.

1960
In the 1960s, our first blue emerged. At the behest of influential cooking writer Elizabeth David – the force behind popularising Mediterranean and French cooking in Britain – the shade was inspired by the striking blue of her favourite Gauloises cigarette packet. This bold innovation paved the way for Bleu Bell in 1970, forever enriching our vibrant legacy.

1995
Marking our 70th anniversary, the Pueblo Collection introduced a gingerbread interior alongside striking new colours – Saphire, Hunter Green and Brown. This range honoured our heritage while pushing design boundaries, adding a fresh dimension to our iconic cast iron pieces and celebrating decades of culinary innovation.

2025
Poised to shine, Flamme Dorée is our latest evolution, lightly dusted with golden shimmer. Paying homage to our original Flame from 1925, this limited-edition masterpiece marries vibrant colour with avant-garde innovation, transforming our Round Dutch Oven into a luminous centrepiece that ignites passion in every kitchen.
