Heat oil in a frying pan over medium- high heat until shimmering. Add asparagus spears in a single layer, gently roll to coat in oil.
Add garlic, season with salt and pepper. Cook stirring often 2-4 minutes. (Add an extra few minutes for thicker spears). If using, sprinkle with Parmesan.
Serve immediately.
